Representative Christina Hagan Attends MLK Day of Service Event
State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) volunteered at a MLK Day of Service event Monday, hosted by the Regula Center at the University of Mount Union.
The event, which served to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life of service, attracted volunteers from around the community who joined Mount Union student volunteers to participate in the day of service. According to local sources, a record-setting 530 individuals attended the event, which first began in 2010.
Representative Hagan worked with several University of Mount Union students to paint the interior classrooms of Union Avenue United Methodist Church.
“It was an honor to volunteer with the Regula Center especially in recognition of the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” Rep. Hagan said.
Other activities throughout the day included making fleece blankets for children at the Akron Children’s Hospital, painting flower pots for elderly individuals at a local nursing home and crafting winter hats for area domestic violence and homeless shelters.
