Rep. Sprague Encourages Area Business Owners to Apply for Workforce Training Voucher
State Representative Robert Sprague (R-Findlay) has announced that area business owners can apply for a voucher that will assist in training their workers. The Ohio Development Services Agency released application dates for the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program, which trains employees in areas such as operational skills, certification processes and equipment training in a wide variety of high-demand fields.
According to the Administration, more than 122,000 employees have been trained through the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program. Under the program, employers can be reimbursed for up to 50 perfect of eligible training costs. Employers must pay the entire cost of the eligible training, and employees must successfully complete the training. In order to qualify, companies must be in operation for at least 12 months. Reimbursement is limited to $4,000 per employee and $100,000 per employer.
“The Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program is important because many companies like to promote from within and hire new employees to fill the vacated positions,” said Representative Sprague. “This and other programs are working for our economy in Ohio, and that is why we have the lowest unemployment rate since 2001.”
Beginning on September 28, 2015, employers will have the opportunity to begin the application process. On October 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., applications can be submitted and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
