State Representative Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) today voted in support of House Bill 292 – legislation to establish the Ohio Defense and Space Commission.
“I am glad to see the passage of House Bill 292,” said Ritter. “Ohio stands to play an important role in America’s international race with China to determine who will have a strategic advantage in space.”
The bill establishes the Ohio Defense and Space Commission to consider strategies to promote the defense and aerospace industries in Ohio. If enacted, the commission would be responsible for the following:

- Recruiting international businesses to invest in the state for defense and aerospace industry purposes
- Promoting research, development, and manufacturing of technology to counter unmanned aerial vehicle systems in Ohio
- Considering policies intended to improve quality of life for service members and veterans
- Studying and developing comprehensive strategies to promote the defense and aerospace industries throughout the state
