State Representative Kevin Ritter (R-Ritter) today voted in support of Ohio’s Capital Budget bill, a two-year capital improvements budget for state and community projects throughout Ohio totaling nearly $4 billion.

The bill provides appropriations for state infrastructure needs, including renovations to state offices, new construction for mental health facilities, land acquisition, and equipment. The plan also includes just over $200 million for community projects, which are projects that come from outside of state agencies and have a benefit or nexus to the state.

All 88 counties will receive funding for community projects.

Rep. Ritter helped secure investments for the following community projects:

Athens County:

  • $100,00 - Athens History Center Improvements - Athens
  • $50,000 - Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program Housing Facility Improvements - Athens
  • $100,000 - The Woods at Dairy Lane - Athens
  • $15,000 - ACEnet Incubator Infrastructure Improvements - Nelsonville
  • $50,000 - McClenaghan Center for Hospitality Instructional Expansion - Nelsonville
  • $100,000 - Stuart’s Opera House Improvements - Nelsonville

“Through the Capital Budget, Athens County will see a variety of investments from history and the arts at the History Center in Athens and Stuart’s Opera House to workforce development at ACEnet and behavioral health support at the 317 Board,” said Ritter.

Meigs County:

  • $50,000 - Meigs County Fairground Improvements
  • $465,860 - Rutland Civic Center Project

“I am glad to see these deserved investments in Meigs County. The Capital Budget provided the opportunity to improve the county fairgrounds and to restore a community gathering space in the Village of Rutland,” said Representative Ritter.

Through this bill, Ohio House Republicans prioritized investing in Ohio’s future by expanding access to education and healthcare through new facilities or upgrades to existing ones, improving parks and roadways to better connect communities, and strengthening local facilities across the state by providing necessary funding for enhancements.

This bill now heads to the Governor for consideration.
