Rep. Perales Introduces Legislation to Protect Military Families
COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) introduced legislation yesterday to exempt military deployment orders from public records requests on public employees. House Bill 423 is aimed to provide military families with the security, privacy and peace of mind they deserve while their family member serves away from home. The bill includes all armed forces including both Ohio National Guard and reservists.
“As a former military member, I know first hand how difficult it is to leave your family behind and head overseas,” said Perales. “If you are worried about the well being of your loved ones back home, it’s impossible to focus on your job. When you are not focused on the mission you compromise not only your safety, but also the safety of your colleagues in the field.”
