COLUMBUS – State Representative Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) announced this week the passage of House Bill (H.B.) 614, legislation that allocates a total of $650 million in federal CARES Act relief funds for local governments in Ohio. The funds are to be used to offset costs faced by local governments directly caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Previously approved by the Ohio Senate, the bill now heads to the Governor’s desk.

The funds approved during Wednesday’s House session are set to be distributed to localities on a per capita basis. Local governments in House District 28 are estimated to receive the following amounts:

  • $690,000 to the City of Blue Ash
  • $314,000 to the City of Deer Park
  • $154,000 to the Village of Evendale
  • $ 1.05 M to the City of Forest Park
  • $123,000 to the Village of Glendale
  • $210,000 to the Village of Greenhills
  • $523,000 to the City of Madeira
  • $615,000 to the City of Montgomery
  • $582,000 to the City of Reading
  • $636,000 to the City of Sharonville
  • $632,000 to the City of Springdale
  • $2.03M to the Township of Springfield
  • 1.1M to the Township of Sycamore

“I am proud to have secured over $8 million in CARES Act funding for Ohio House District 28. It is imperative that the legislature continue the allocation of federal dollars to our localities. This emergency funding will prove to be incredibly crucial as municipalities are having to deal with unprecedented expenses occurred as a result of the pandemic,” said Rep. Miranda

State lawmakers previously approved $350 million in federal CARES Act funds for local governments in June, as well as $175 million approved by the state Controlling Board in August, making H.B. 614 the latest relief package for Ohio localities responding to unprecedented costs incurred throughout the pandemic.
