Rep. McClain to Resign from Seat in Ohio House
Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that State Representative Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) will be resigning from his seat in the Ohio House to take a position as Director of Tax and Economic Policy for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m looking forward to pursuing new goals and projects in my position at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, however it will be incredibly sad to leave my colleagues and friends in the Ohio House,” Rep. McClain said. “I want to thank Speaker Rosenberger for his continual support and strong leadership, and I look forward to working with him and other House members in my new role. I also want to thank the Ohio Chamber of Commerce for trusting me to serve Ohioans in this new position.”
Rep. McClain is currently serving his fourth term in the Ohio House, where he has been an integral part of passing legislation on various budget and tax policy issues, including as Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and a member of the Finance Committee. During the 131st General, he also served on the Community and Family Advancement Committee.
“Rep. McClain’s expertise and leadership on the issue of tax policy will certainly be missed in the Ohio House,” Speaker Rosenberger said. “I’ve enjoyed working with him over the years and think his efforts have had a direct and positive impact on Ohioans. Jeff is a loyal and consistent public servant who will do great things at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.”
Rep. McClain’s resignation is expected to be effective October 2nd.
