INDEPENDENCE—State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) participated in Independence Primary School’s annual Right to Read Week. She shared her love of books with a rapt audience of kindergarten students. Rep. Anielski shared one of her favorite children’s books entitled “The Best Week Ever.” Resplendent with props, she told the story of how the main character, armed with his magic potions, had the best week ever.

“Reading is a critical skill in every walk of life and in every corner of our community,” said Rep. Anielski. “It empowers, entertains, and expands the mind. Today it might be The Best Week Ever, but tomorrow it could be War and Peace or the Constitution. There is no limit to the doors that can be opened by reading.”

Right to Read Week aims to encourage students of all ages and skill levels to develop a lifetime reading habit through celebrity examples and other activities. The goal is to expose students to as many different backgrounds on reading as possible.
