COLUMBUS — State Reps. Sharon Ray (R- Wadsworth) and Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) today hosted a press conference discussing House Bill 294 and the false claims made by the House Minority Caucus regarding the legislation.

The press conference comes as Seitz and Ray disseminated a letter to House Minority Caucus members dispelling the claims.

“Our charge as law and policymakers is to ensure a system that enables and protects one of our most cherished rights and responsibilities - the act of voting,” said Ray in the letter. “Carrying out this task calls for a careful balance between removing unreasonable and unjust barriers to voting, and careful checks and balances to ensure that each citizen’s vote is secure, accurate, and lawful.”

The letter continues to address each partisan claim made by Democrat members, including those regarding the number of ballot boxes in each county, early voting, and absentee ballot requests, among others.

Seitz said that House Bill 294 instills public confidence in Ohio’s elections with heightened security measures and much needed updates to the current system.

“These updates to the system are the result of input from elections officials and local boards of elections from across the state,” said Seitz. “This bill ensures that Ohio’s elections moving forward are high integrity, which should be a priority shared among all Ohio voters.”
