Pizzulli Highlights Controlling Board Funding for State to Purchase Land Back from Nature Conservancy
COLUMBUS –The Ohio Controlling Board today approved the release of $709,900 to be used by the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry to expand Shawnee State Forest, announced State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County).
This funding will be used to acquire 250 acres of land located in Nile Township, Scioto County and Green Township, Adams County from the Nature Conservancy.
“This purchase will put authority over the land back in the hands of local leaders,” said Pizzulli. “The concerns of our Township Trustees were heard loud and clear, and this is an important step in the right direction to ensure vital tax revenue can eventually make its way back to the 90th district. It’s also important to protect our natural resources so that our families can live off this land. I’m overjoyed to see this land come back to the people.”
This funding comes from the H2Ohio Initiative and is the first acquisition of the newly created H2Ohio Rivers program.
