Pavliga Presents State Funding to Rootstown Historical Society

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) joined the Rootstown Historical Society (RHS) and Old Cemetery Committee in Portage County for a check presentation to the organization.

Pavliga spoke at the event and detailed the $60,000 for the organization as a part of the recently passed state operating budget.

“As a member of the House Finance Committee this year, it was my pleasure to advocate for local dollars for this wonderful organization,” Pavliga said. “It’s my hope that this funding goes towards the future preservation of history here in Portage County for the various projects you are all working on in the near future.”

RHS noted their appreciation for the state dollars.

“The Rootstown Historical Society is honored and grateful to receive this generous gift from the State to further our goal of preserving historic sites and records for the education of generations to come,” said Carolyn Underwood of behalf of the Rootstown Historical Society.

Pavliga supported the state budget this summer as it was later signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine.
