Pavliga Joins Lt. Gov. Jon Husted for Next Generation Jobs Tour Stop in Kent
State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) recently joined Lt. Gov. Jon Husted for his Next Generation Jobs Tour in Kent at the Olstrad Engineering Corporation. The event included a tour and roundtable discussion.
“This occasion was to see firsthand the advancement of technology from a business right here in the district and the types of jobs they have to offer,” Pavliga said. “An important component of the visit was to discuss job creation and advancing workforce initiatives, which includes getting residents to learn more critical skills through pre-apprenticeship programs and TechCred that are mutually beneficial for employees and employers.”
Companies throughout Ohio are taking advantage of these programs. Specifically, TechCred is an initiative created through legislation in the General Assembly that allows businesses to identify the specific qualifications they need and give employees the opportunity to upskill toward a more advanced position.
The state will reimburse businesses for training upon completion of a credential. Ohio companies interested in investing in their current or prospective employees by connecting them with technology-focused credentials can apply at TechCred.Ohio.Gov.
“Assisting Ohio residents in learning more skills and preparing them for jobs of the future is going to make our state more attractive not only for them but for out-of-state businesses and individuals to come to Ohio to work and raise a family,” Pavliga added.
