COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed House Bill 399, legislation to support living organ donation by to removing financial barriers, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek).

This legislation will provide financial relief to living organ donors by creating a new income tax credit for employers who provide paid leave to an employee who makes an organ donation.

“Living organ donation is an extremely altruistic act that can give these Ohioans a new lease on life,” said Lampton during his floor speech. “I believe that cost is trivial compared to the potential that this bill has to enable life-saving organ donations.”

According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, almost 3,000 Ohioans await a lifesaving organ transplant.

House Bill 399 now heads to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

The Ohio House of Representatives today also passed Senate Bill 175, legislation to modernize Ohio law regarding insurance regulations and taxes.

“This legislation will ensure Ohio remains competitive in the insurance marketplace and greater economic arena,” said Lampton.

Senate Bill 175 now heads to the Governor for a signature.
