COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed House Bill 370, legislation to alleviate financial burden from Ohio’s villages and ensure uniform standards for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville).
Under the legislation, ODOT will be required to maintain and repair state routes that run through villages. Some of the Department’s responsibilities will include snow plowing, lawn mowing, and resurfacing.
“This legislation directly aides Ohio’s villages,” said Edwards. “It is not the responsibility of our villages to maintain state roads using resources they do not have.”
The legislation now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
