COLUMBUS—The House Local Government Committee today passed the Flip the Script Bill sponsored by State Rep. Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.).

House Bill 124 will empower county auditors to determine the sales used to track the market and determine property values.

“This bill is another step in the right direction as we continue to address the property tax system in Ohio,” said Hall. “This legislation empowers our county auditors and starts the process locally.”

House Bill 124 now heads to the House floor for a vote.

Hall also provided sponsor testimony before the House Local Government Committee on legislation to ensure EMS service for Ohioans while encouraging shared services and taxpayer savings to residents.

House Bill 274 will provide a mandate of EMS service for townships, villages, and cities like what is ensured for police and fire protection while also creating an incentive of grant dollars to those entities who combine or create formal shared services to decrease the cost to their property taxpayer. The incentive aims to offset startup costs for new services and provide a carrot to decrease costs to taxpayers in the long run for local first responder areas.

“This legislation is a vital and creative approach to addressing serious concerns in the emergency service industry and improving response times for life-saving services,” said Hall.

House Bill 274 awaits further consideration from the Local Government Committee.
