COLUMBUS – State Representative Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) last week delivered sponsor testimony before the House Transportation and Public Safety Committee on House Bills 119 and 102.

House Bill 119, sponsored by Holmes and State Representative Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland), would create the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) license plate. Under the bill, the license plate will be available for purchase at BMV offices for $35 more than standard plates. Of that $35, $25 will go towards supporting the OAI.

“The Aerospace industry is rapidly growing in Ohio and creating its own license plate through this legislation is an excellent way to support OAI’s work,” Holmes said after the committee hearing.

House Bill 102, also sponsored by Holmes, would establish the Sergeant First Class Ron Rosser Medal of Honor Recipient Memorial Highway between mile markers 132 and 133 on I-70.

Sharing SFC Rosser’s story with the committee, Holmes said, “The courage Ron Rosser displayed is of the rarest form. Rarer still is a man who, after such a harrowing experience, continued to serve our nation in uniform for decades. His service is indeed worthy of emulation and I can think of no better way to do so than to name part of our interstate in his honor.”

The Transportation and Public Safety Committee unanimously passed both bills and they are expected to receive for a vote before the House in the near future.
