Hall, Isaacsohn Hold Press Conference on Bill to Freeze Property Taxes for Ohio Seniors

COLUMBUS—State Reps. Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.) and Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) today held a press conference on recently introduced legislation known as the 70 Under 70 Plan.

This Plan will protect Ohio seniors from increases in property taxes by implementing a property tax freeze for certain owner-occupied homes.

“Our seniors have made our communities what they are today and now, it is our turn to give back to them,” said Hall during the press conference. “The 70/70 Plan will help Ohio seniors maintain financial stability and remain comfortable in their homes without the fear of losing them or questioning how they will pay for other basic necessities.”

Requirements for eligibility are as follows:

• Individual must be seventy years of age or older
• Income must not exceed seventy thousand dollars
• Individual must have owned their home for ten years or more
   

“With dramatic increases in property values, there is no better time than the present for this bill,” said Isaacsohn. “Senior citizens should be able to stay in their communities and age, and this legislation is another step toward achieving that goal. Let’s continue to work to remove the many barriers our Seniors face in their everyday lives.”

This legislation comes as a result of recent projected increases in property taxes.

The 70 Under 70 Plan awaits a bill number and committee assignment.
