STINZIANO APPOINTED TO TASK FORCE STUDYING OHIO DEATH PENALTY
COLUMBUS, Ohio – State Rep. Michael Stinziano has been appointed to the Joint Task Force to Review the Administration of Ohio’s death penalty.
According to the task force, the group’s purpose is to assess whether the death penalty in Ohio is administered in the most fair and judicious manner possible and to determine if the administrative and procedural mechanisms for administering the death penalty are adequate or need to be changed.
“The responsibility to exact the death penalty is among the most solemn powers granted to the state,” said Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat. “We must ensure that it is fairly and evenly applied.”
“Judge Fisher and I are pleased to welcome Representative Stinziano to the joint task force and look forward to his participation in the important work of the group,” said Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor.
A lawyer, Stinziano is the ranking Democratic member of the House Judiciary Committee.
