Rep. Michael J. O'Brien announces state funding for new Champion elementary, middle school
“This funding opportunity allows Champion Local to better serve children and families in our community,” said Rep. O’Brien. “Educators and staff will now be equipped with the facilities and technology needed to give our youth a world-class education that will set them on a track for opportunity and success well into the future.”
The Champion Local Schools District is breaking ground on the first segment of its Champion Local project, which calls for construction of a new elementary and middle school housing students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. State funding for the project totals $17,552,720, while local shares total $13,791,422. The project’s budget for the first phase is estimated at $31,344,142.
Districts receiving funding through the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program must acquire their local share of the project budget within a 13-month time frame before the state share can be released.
