Rep. Kent Smith announces funds for renovations project at Shaw High School
COLUMBUS— State Rep. Kent Smith (D-Euclid) today announced over $662,000 in state funding for the East Cleveland City Schools District through the state’s Classroom Facilities Assistance Program. The state program utilizes profits from the Ohio Lottery to fund facilities projects at schools throughout Ohio. The funds approved for East Cleveland Schools will go toward design and construction at Shaw High School.
“I applaud the state’s commitment to making much needed improvements at Shaw High School,” said Rep. Smith. “Shaw High School has a proud history and these funds will help ensure it has an impactful future. Quality education demands quality infrastructure.”
The school’s exterior brick façade needs to be replaced after not being properly installed. Construction calls for the re-anchoring of the brick veneer and the rebuilding of the lower-level façade.
Shaw High School serves students in grades 9-12 in the East Cleveland City Schools District. The current Shaw High School facility opened in 2007.
