Leader Sykes statement as Ohio announces all Ohioans will be eligible for coronavirus vaccine beginning March 29
House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) issued a statement on the announcement that all Ohioans aged 16 and over will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine beginning March 29. Ohioans aged 40 and over and with certain qualifying medical conditions will be eligible beginning March 19.
“I commend President Biden’s leadership on this historic rollout of the coronavirus vaccine, which is far ahead of even the most optimistic projections from the administration. This is certainly welcome news, and I encourage every Ohioan to schedule their vaccination as soon as they can.
“It is my hope, too, that today’s announcement will also come with a real, targeted plan to mobilize vaccine distribution to the most vulnerable Ohioans, particularly in our Black and Brown communities, which still see much lower vaccination rates compared to the rest of Ohio.”
