Leader Sykes statement as 15 additional mass vaccination sites set to open across Ohio

House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) issued a statement today as state officials announced a number of regional mass vaccination sites across Ohio, which will be able to administer up to 1,000 vaccines a day beginning later this month. Sites include Akron, Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Lima, Marietta, Maumee, Wilmington, Youngstown and Zanesville. Another four mobile sites will open in Ada, Athens, Mansfield and Steubenville. 

“The ability to access vaccinations to protect against COVID is an important step in getting our economy back on track, our kids back in school and healthy Ohio where people can live their American dream,” said Leader Sykes. “I am pleased that house district 34 will host a vaccination site and I am hopeful that as more appointments come available, equitable distribution will remain an important priority.”

The Biden administration earlier Friday announced that Cleveland State’s Wolstein Center would serve as one of several FEMA-backed mass vaccination sites across the country, with the ability to administer 6,000 vaccine doses a day for eight weeks beginning March 17.
