House Dems tap Latyna Humphrey for 26th District seat

Following the recommendation of a screening panel chaired by Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D-Willowick), House Democrats today voted to appoint Latyna Humphrey to represent Ohio’s 26th House District, a seat currently vacant after former Rep. Erica Crawley stepped down to begin her role as Franklin County Commissioner. 

“Latyna Humphrey’s experience, leadership and dedication to public service is a great fit for the working people and families of the 26th House District,” said Rep. Troy. “She will be an invaluable asset to our caucus and a powerful voice for the community she represents. We look forward to working with her to grow good paying jobs and to restore Ohio’s promise of better lives and brighter futures this legislative session.”

Humphrey, currently serving as bailiff at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, will take the oath of office in the coming weeks.

Latyna Humphrey is an author, activist and community relations professional who has dedicated herself to improving her Columbus-area community and uplifting the voices of Black and Brown Ohioans. She currently works for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and formerly worked as Outreach Coordinator for the Franklin County Auditor’s Office. She is the President of the Central Ohio Young Black Democrats.

The 26th House District includes all or parts of Bexley, Columbus, Groveport, Reynoldsburg, and Whitehall.
