House Dems tap Gil Blair for 63rd House district seat
State Rep. Jack Cera (D-Bellaire) today announced the House Democratic screening panel tasked with finding a replacement for the 63rd House district seat, previously held by Glenn Holmes (D-Girard), has recommended Gil Blair (D-Weathersfield) to fill the remainder of Holmes’s term.
“Among the qualified candidates, Blair’s experience, leadership and dedication to public service make him the top choice to represent the people of the 63rd House District,” said Cera. “He is results-driven, and will be an invaluable asset to our caucus and to his district as we work together to move our state forward this legislative session.”
Blair, a Weathersfield trustee and municipal court prosecutor, will take the oath of office next week during House session.
“I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to use my voice to advocate for the hardworking people of the 63rd district,” said Blair. “I look forward to working together with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver results for taxpayers by expanding opportunity for working people and families, reforming our criminal justice system and growing good paying jobs right here in the Mahoning Valley.”
Blair, an attorney and lifelong resident of the 63rd district, has served eight years as township trustee and five as a municipal court prosecutor for the City of Warren. He operates a private law practice and earned his BA and JD from the University of Akron.
The 63rd House district includes all of or parts of Bazetta, Brookfield, Cortland, Girard, Fowler, Hartford, Vernon, Hubbard City, Hubbard Township, Liberty, Lordstown, McDonald, Newton Falls, Newton Township, Niles, Vienna and Weathersfield.
