House Democrats Call on Governor DeWine to Veto Cruel Anti-Trans Bill
COLUMBUS - The Ohio House Democratic Caucus today sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine respectfully requesting he veto House Bill (HB) 68, the anti-trans youth bill.
“During your administration, you have emphasized the importance of fostering a nurturing and positive environment for the young children of our state that offers them the best opportunities to succeed in life. If this cruel bill which ignores evidence-based science becomes law, we are further normalizing the bigotry facing the transgender and non-binary community, especially in this case of trans youth and their families,” wrote House Democrats to Governor DeWine.
HB 68 deliberately targets trans youth and their families while also criminalizing healthcare providers who deliver or refer patients to evidence-based, patient-centered care. House Democrats firmly believe it is a fundamental freedom that medical decisions are between youths, their families, and medical providers – not extremist politicians.
