House Democrats applaud growth of union memberships across Ohio in 2022
COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) calls the recent report that shows the number and percentage of Ohio union memberships increasing in 2022 an exciting step in the right direction.
“Union workers have built Ohio, serve our communities and continue to create the infrastructure this state needs to thrive,” said Leader Russo. “The road ahead to economic expansion and technological innovation is being paved by union members. Democrats will always stand with working people and continue to introduce pro-worker legislation.”
According to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly 699,000 Ohio workers were union members in 2022 and the percentage of union workers rose to 12.8%. Due to those increases, Ohio saw the third-largest increase in union memberships nationally last year.
