Honda to invest $3.5 billion dollars in Ohio electric vehicle battery plant
COLUMBUS- Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) celebrates the announcement that Honda Motors plans to invest $3.5 billion in a brand new electrical vehicle battery plant in Southern Ohio.
“Honda’s decisions to once again recognize Ohio as a world-class partner only solidifies our great state’s standing as the manufacturing hub for the future’s most important technologies, said Leader Russo. “ Just like President Biden’s continued work to ensure investments like this with the CHIPS Act as well as the Inflation Reduction Act, this facility will create great jobs for thousands of Ohioans, propel their communities forward and lead the way in accomplishing our goals of restricting carbon emissions.”
To ensure Ohio continues to be a leader in the electric vehicle space, Ohio House Democrats introduced House Bill (HB) 292 to establish a State Electric Vehicle Commission. The Commission would be comprised of elected leaders and industry representatives to study the emergence of electric vehicle production and the steps Ohio needs to take to adapt to the future.
