COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), Assistant Minority Leader Thomas West (D-Canton), Minority Whip Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park), and Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine urging him to use his executive powers to veto House Bill 458 and related provisions added to House Bill 45 which were rushed through in the final hours of lame duck session.

“As you well know from your long career in public service and as a leader in your party, Governor, elections can come down to just a few votes’ difference, even one vote’s difference, or even ties that must be broken with a coin flip,'' wrote Democrats. “But, even more importantly, each individual Ohio voter’s voice is valuable and equal to their fellow Ohioans. Even one voter disenfranchised by these deliberate barriers to voting is too many.”

House Bills 458 and 45 are undergoing processing by LSC and Clerk staff and will soon be sent to the Governor for his consideration.
