Citizen-Led Ballot Initiatives Key to Healthy Democracy, Says House Dem Leader
COLUMBUS – House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today celebrated citizen-led ballot initiatives ahead of the Aug. 8 special election for Issue 1, the politician-proposed constitutional restrictions that would end majority rule in Ohio and make it virtually impossible for citizen-led ballot initiatives to qualify for the ballot.
“Just as hundreds of thousands of Ohioans are lifting up their voices and demanding change from their government, the fight for our personal freedoms and the right to make decisions that impact our lives continues to face crucial tests in Ohio. We will protect our freedom to determine our own future, we will protect our right to majority rule and we will vote NO on Issue 1,” said Leader Russo.
This is a special election for special interest groups. Issue 1 will shred our constitution, it will end majority rule in our state, and it will destroy the sacred principle of “one person, one vote. Be sure to make a plan to vote NO on Issue 1.
