COLUMBUS- House Bill 661, legislation that regulates imitation meat and egg products, has been introduced by State Representative Roy Klopfenstein (R- Haviland) and State Representative Jack Daniels (R- New Franklin). 

COLUMBUS— On Friday, June 12, State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) joined the Ohio Association of Meat Processors, the Ohio Department of Agriculture, and other legislators on a tour of Heffelfinger’s Meats, Inc., the largest harvesting facility in Ohio.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Tom Young (R-Washington Twp.) today announced the Ohio House has approved six bills addressing a variety of issues, including measures to provide testing relief to Ohio’s schools, improve health outcomes, and support Ohio’s business climate.

COLUMBUS– After the Ohio Supreme Court today ruled the latest congressional map unconstitutional, State Rep. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) renewed his call for a Criminal Complaint against the Ohio Redistricting Commission for dereliction of duty and violating their oath of office.

State Reps. H. Gilson Blair (D-Weathersfield) and Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) celebrated the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the PRO Act, H.R. 2474 today, which would protect workers’ right to organize. The bill would give millions of workers additional protections to organize and negotiate for better pay, better benefits and safer working conditions. 

COLUMBUS, OH — State Representative Latyna M. Humphrey (D–Columbus) today issued the following statement in response to yesterday’s verdict in the case involving Casey Goodson Jr.

A group of Columbus-area House Democratic lawmakers today sent a letter to Secretary of State Frank LaRose calling on him to break the tie vote at the Franklin County Board of Elections over whether to continue a longstanding public information campaign to provide accurate voting information to Franklin County residents. Republican Board of Elections members oppose providing this information to voters. The Secretary refused to break the tie despite state law requiring it. See the letter below.

State Representative Tim Barhorst (R-Ft. Loramie) today announced that Lake Loramie was awarded $1.745 million for dredging through House Bill 479.

State Reps. Allison Russo (D- Upper Arlington) and Mary Lightbody (D-Westerville) today announced the introduction of The Safe Drinking Water Act to guarantee safe drinking water in Ohio.  The bill provides for state-level standards for drinking water to limit known toxics and protect residents from harm. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D–Parma) today welcomed new guidance issued by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) that aligns Ohio’s implementation of SNAP work requirements with updated federal guidance protecting vulnerable Ohioans ages 60 to 64.

House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D- Akron) and Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon), who serves as the Ranking Member on the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee, issued statements today following the House floor vote of sub-bill Senate Bill (SB) 89.

COLUMBUS—Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) members today held a press conference to provide updates on their Build Up Black Families legislative package in honor of Black History Month. This initiative was first introduced in June 2019. 

House Democratic lawmakers today reacted to the House passage of Senate Bill 120, which moves the beginning of the EdChoice Voucher program application period from Feb. 1, 2020 to April 1, 2020 after GOP lawmakers could not come to an agreement on a deal to fix the state’s controversial voucher system.
