Stagnant economic growth continues to hurt middle class Ohioans

COLUMBUS— The state jobs report  for Nov. was released today, showing Ohio well-above the national unemployment rate with 427,000 Ohioans still looking for work. The U.S. economy is growing at the fastest pace since late 2011, but Ohio lost 12,000 jobs last month and the state’s unemployment rate continues to trend much higher than last year. State Rep. Michael Ashford (D-Toledo) released the following statement in response to the news:

“Today’s job report illustrates that Gov. Kasich’s top-down priorities continue to stall Ohio’s economic recovery and hurt middle class families. While GOP leadership tries to shift responsibility for the lack of economic growth onto others, Ohio’s unemployment rate is above the national average for the third month in a row. We need to invest in the middle class and prioritize our schools and communities to get our state working again.”
