OLBC to host free implicit bias training for healthcare professionals

Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) President and State Rep. Thomas West (D-Canton) today announced that the OLBC will host a free webinar on implicit bias in healthcare on Monday, April 26 from 9-11 a.m. All healthcare professionals are invited to attend. Dr. Quinn Capers IV, M.D. will be the presenter.

Dr. Capers is an interventional cardiologist, professor of medicine, and transformational leader in academic medicine. He has been widely decorated as an educator, clinician, and champion of diversity enhancement in medicine. 

Dr. Capers currently serves as associate dean for faculty diversity and the inaugural vice chair for diversity and inclusion in the department of internal medicine at University of Texas Southwestern. Prior to that, he served as vice dean for faculty affairs and professor of internal medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

The OLBC has also invited Senate Health Committee Chairman Sen. Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) and House Health Committee Chairman Rep. Scott Lipps (R-Franklin), as well as members of their committees, to join the webinar.

The webinar is part of OLBC’s ongoing commitment to lead the discussion on implicit bias in healthcare and across other professions in Ohio.
