COLUMBUS –House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the launch of the Ohio Promise: Opportunity Agenda Tour, a statewide series of town hall events where local lawmakers will discuss statewide issues like jobs and economic development, the state budget, protecting healthcare access and the freedom to vote, and the pending redistricting process. The public events will give Ohioans the opportunity to ask questions and offer input on ways to address the issues facing their communities.

“With so many important issues facing working people, families and the communities they live in, we want to hear from you, the People of Ohio. That’s why Democrats are once again hitting the road to bring the Statehouse to your neighborhood,” said Leader Sykes. “Democrats are here to listen, and I hope that every Ohioan takes the opportunity to join us. We work for you, and as we begin to recover from this pandemic, we want to make sure every Ohioan has the opportunity to live the Ohio Promise of better lives, brighter futures and an economy that works for everyone.”

The Ohio Promise: Opportunity Agenda Tour is the third Ohio Promise-branded town hall tour in as many years, which has included more than 50 in person and virtual events to connect thousands of Ohioans to their state government.

Ohio House Democrats plan to discuss their Opportunity Agenda to grow good paying jobs, strengthen small businesses, and protect the health and safety of all Ohioans. The town halls will also highlight several focus areas, including the state budget, redistricting, the American Rescue Plan and Ohio’s anti-voter bill, HB 294.

Each town hall event will be free and open to the public, with member availability for media at each event.
