Richardson's Compassionate Caregivers Act Signed into Law
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) enthusiastically announced today that Governor Mike DeWine has signed into law Substitute House Bill 120, the Compassionate Caregivers Act, legislation which will ensure compassionate care access in long-term care facilities.
The bill will require long-term care facilities to develop and implement a visitation policy securing compassionate care visitations in long-term care facilities during any future epidemic, pandemic, or state of emergency.
“Substitute House Bill 120 started when a resident in my district made me aware of her concern for seniors in long-term care facilities due to a lack of contact with loved ones and family members,” said Richardson. “This legislation ensures necessary compassionate care access for our most vulnerable population, so that the isolation experienced during COVID-19 will never happen again.”
Substitute House Bill 120 will go into effect in 90 days.
