COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson’s (R-Marysville) legislation to help the American Legion of Ohio by offering a specialty license plate has passed the Ohio Senate and will be headed to the governor’s office.

The legislation will create the American Legion license plate and with the purchase of the plate a $10 contribution will be given to support the efforts of the American Legion.

“Signing this bill into law will allow Ohioans an opportunity to honor and support our Nation’s veterans,” said Richardson. “American Legion members have dedicated their lives to service in the Armed Forces, and continue that service by upholding the Constitution of the United States of America and serving our communities.”

With more than 500 local posts around Ohio and more than 82,000 members, the American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veteran’s service organization. They offer sponsorship programs to support veterans and service members during their times of need. The American Legion is also responsible for providing leadership development of young men and women by organizing and conducting the annual Buckeye Boys and Girls State Programs.

The legislation will now head to the governor’s office for further consideration.
