COLUMBUS - State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.

Vetoed by the Governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.

Richardson spoke on the House floor and released the following statement about the vote:

“At every opportunity, I have voted in favor of the SAFE and Save Women’s Sports Acts and today was no different,” said Richardson. “Today, I unhesitatingly voted to override the Governor’s veto! Protecting children and ensuring fair competition for women are top priorities.”
