Richardson Supports ORW Program Funding to Help Prevent Domestic Violence
COLUMBUS – Today, the Ohio State Controlling Board and Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) approved funding for Concerned Citizens Against Violence Against Women through the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The allocation is made up of federal funds totaling $155,904.
Concerned Citizens Against Violence Against Women is a Marion based organization that provides counseling for victims of domestic violence. It also provides counseling for perpetrators of domestic violence at the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW) in Marysville.
“The goal of the program is to decrease domestic violence and the possibility of being victimized in the future. These resources will be used to help reduce repeated offenses of those who have committed domestic violence,” Richardson said. “Domestic violence fatalities have risen by 35% since 2019, thus supporting the need for this funding now more than ever.”
Concerned Citizens Against Violence Against Women has been working with ORW since 2015. The grant will be paid over the next two years.
The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 4.
