Richardson Supports Ohioans 2nd Amendment Rights
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) Wednesday voted to protect law-abiding Ohioans ability to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.
The landmark plan is the most significant 2nd Amendment bill approved by Ohio lawmakers in years.
“It remains a top priority of mine to support the 2nd Amendment rights of Ohioans and to uphold my commitment to those I represent by voting for Senate Bill 215,” said Richardson.
Under the bill, if you are 21 and legally qualify for a concealed carry license, you can legally carry that handgun concealed for any lawful purposes with no additional licenses, fees or paperwork required.
Representative Richardson does not believe training should be mandatory in order for an Ohioan to bear arms, but she encourages voluntary training participation.
Ohioans could still apply for a concealed handgun license if they wish, but it would no longer be mandatory. Some Ohioans, for example, may seek a concealed-carry permit for reciprocity purposes when traveling to other states.
The Ohio House approved the bill and after concurrence from the Ohio Senate, it will head to Governor DeWine for his signature.
