Richardson Supports Law Enforcement at Memorial Ceremony
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) joined members of the Marion community as the keynote speaker at the Marion Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on Thursday, May 25.
Alongside families and law enforcement officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, and Ohio State Highway Patrol she honored those that have sacrificed their lives in the line of service. Richardson began her speech by acknowledging there are few words capable of adequately expressing her gratitude for law enforcement officers and shared the poem, “In the Line of Duty” by George Hahn.
“Too often we forget to pause and think of those we have lost but today we enshrine their sacrifice and remember with gratitude their ultimate gift to us,” said Richardson. “Law enforcement officers wake up every day and don their uniforms not knowing what the future holds. They choose to bravely protect and serve our community despite the uncertainty around them. These selfless servants are truly deserving of our sincerest gratitude and respect!”
The event took place at the Marion County Law Enforcement Memorial site, where Richardson and others honored the five law enforcement officers from Marion County that have died in the line of duty.
National Peace Officers Memorial Day is on May 15 of each year.
