State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) is encouraged to hear Honda and LG Energy Solutions are looking at Ohio as a site to build a new $4.4 billion electric-vehicle battery factory.

The announcement of the new facility also has impact in Richardson’s district, which includes Marysville, home of Honda of America.

“Honda has had deep roots in Marysville for the past 40 years,” said Richardson. “They are the number one employer in the area and it is encouraging to know that Honda will continue to be a part of Marysville as the automotive industry transitions to electrified vehicles.”

The companies plan to begin construction on the new lithium-ion battery facility early next year and start production by the end of 2025.

The multi-billion dollar announcement was just the latest of a major business choosing Ohio as a destination to expand their operations.

“This General Assembly has been working to make Ohio a business friendly state,” said Richardson. “Providing tax relief and reform to create jobs and providing education for a strong workforce. These industries have recognized this and that is why they are coming to Ohio.”

The Representative noted that a final destination for the new facility has not been released by either company.

“At this time, I do not want to speculate regarding their specific path forward but I am hopeful and confident in Honda’s continued growth and success within our 86th District here in Ohio.”
