Richardson Attends Honda EV Announcement Ceremony
COLUMBUS –State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) was recognized on Tuesday during the announcement of Honda’s new $3.5 billion electric-vehicle battery factory that will be built in Fayette County. $700 million will be invested in the existing Honda facilities, including those located in Union County.
The announcement comes six weeks after Honda announced a joint partnership with LG Energy Solutions and a desire to build a new battery facility in Ohio.
“This is a tremendous investment in Ohio, which continues the Honda tradition and commitment to ensuring Union County is a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Richardson. “Honda has been a part of our community for decades and this new factory will keep Honda manufacturing here. I am particularly proud of the 45-year history of ingenuity and work ethic displayed by the Honda associates in the 86th House District.”
The new facility will be built on 300 of 1,400 available acres off of Interstate 71 in Fayette County and will create 2,200 new jobs and $172 million of new payroll in the state.
Honda also announced that the investment of $700 million in their existing manufacturing facilities in Marysville, East Liberty and Anna, will be used to retool these facilities to be able to build the new battery-powered vehicles.
