Richardson Announces ORW Improvements

January 10, 2022
Tracy M. Richardson News

COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson announced the Ohio Controlling Board approved the release of funds to the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for improvements to the Ohio Reformatory for Women. The Controlling Board approved the release of these funds on Monday, January 10.

“These are necessary improvements that will help keep inmates and the local community safe,” said Richardson (R-Marysville). “Without allocated state funds our penitentiary system would struggle to provide adequate housing for Ohio’s incarcerated population.”

The allotment of $385,800 will be used to improve the infrastructure of the Harmon Tunnel starting with sanitary line improvements to the Harmon Building. The renovations will also include utility lines and basic repairs.

The Ohio Reformatory for Women is a multi-security level prison that opened in 1916. The prison currently houses 2,349 inmates and is located in Marysville, Ohio.

The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 24.
