Richardson Announces Correctional Facility Renovation Funding
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) announced more than $1.1 million awarded through to the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for infrastructure improvements to the North Central Camp of the North Central Correctional Complex in Marion.
Formerly, the North Central Camp was the Marion Juvenile Correctional Facility that was closed in July of 2009. The $1.1 million, a capital appropriation in the 133rd General Assembly, was recently allocated through the Ohio Controlling Board. The funding will be used in preparation to reopen the building.
“The funding for the North Central Correctional complex is out of necessity to get the facility structurally ready to receive inmates,” said Richardson. “This is not only for the safety of the incarcerated population, but for the safety of the community as well.”
The 176-capacity facility will undergo renovations to the plumbing, lighting, floors and walls, roofing and exterior masonry work to make the facility structurally stable.
