Ohio Rail Commission Wants Public Input
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) wants Ohioans to get involved with the Ohio Rail Development Commission’s update to the State of Ohio Rail Plan.
The Ohio Rail Plan is required to be updated every four years to remain competitive for federal grant opportunities through the Ohio Rail Development Commission.
Beginning today, an online survey is available for the public to provide their input on their concerns with safety and blocked crossings, thoughts on the current state of the rail network in Ohio, the importance of the rail network to them, and any priorities they would like to see the State of Ohio pursue.
“Safe and reliable rail transportation is important to the 86th House District. Residents in Union and Marion counties, in addition to major manufacturers like Honda and Scotts Miracle Gro, depend on this infrastructure,” said Richardson. “You may use this survey to provide your input on the future of rail in Ohio, including blocked rail crossings and other safety concerns.”

The Ohio Rail Development Commission assists Ohio communities, companies, and railroads in creating and retaining jobs by preserving rail service to existing shippers and providing rail service to new customers.¿The Rail Commission also funds projects to improve railroad-highway grade crossings to increase safety for the traveling public.
