State Representative Tom Patton Presents House Resolution on Ohio House Floor to Katie Nageotte
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) today presented Katie Nageotte a House Resolution for her momentous accomplishment of competing in the 2020 Olympic Sumer Games and being a gold medal winner in the pole vault.
Katie always remembers her Northeast Ohio roots. She is from Olmsted Falls, Ohio, where her career in track and field began with a Division I Ohio High School state championship victory in 2009.
In 2021, she qualified for the June Olympics in Tokyo. At the biggest stage, Katie pulled through for the United States and all of her friends and family in Olmsted Falls by clearing the 4.9-meter mark and winning a gold medal. “When the State of Ohio is fortunate enough to have an Olympic gold medalist, we must take the time to honor this great achievement,” said Patton.
Katie has a strong love and connection to the City of Olmsted Falls and Northeast Ohio. “As she won the medal she said ‘This is for you Cleveland’ showing her boundless loyalty and support to her hometown,” said Patton.
This achievement is truly noteworthy; Katie Nageotte has clearly demonstrated her talent and perseverance, as well as her mental and physical fortitude as an athlete through her accomplishments as a United States Olympic Pole Vault gold medalist.
