State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) recently presented the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department with a commendation recognizing their 100th anniversary. The commendation was given to Cleveland Metroparks Chief of Police Katherine Dolan.

“This department’s one-hundred years of service is certainly an important milestone,” said Patton. “It’s my privilege to acknowledge their achievements with this commendation as they continue to provide safety and order to our park districts.”

Last week marked the anniversary as their first police officer, Charles L. Fox, was hired 100 years ago to the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department.

Cleveland Metroparks Police Department is the law enforcement branch of Cleveland Metroparks. The department's primary objective is to provide a safe and accessible environment for the Park District's more than 43 million annual visitors. The Police Department's jurisdiction comprises more than 23,700 acres of land, 100 miles of connecting parkways and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

Cleveland Metroparks Police Headquarters, located in Fairview Park, Ohio, dispatches the department's 90 officers from field offices positioned throughout the Park District.
