Patton Announces Ohio No. 1 in Nation for Economic Development
State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) announced and commended that Ohio is the leading state in the nation for economic development, according to the annual Site Selection magazine Governor’s Cup results.
“These results show that the entire state of Ohio is succeeding as a whole,” said Patton. “From jobs to work ethic, Ohio has earned this high recognition that signifies our state’s strong economy and workforce.”
Site Selection measures the number of economic development projects per person. A project is considered those meeting one or more of Site Selection’s criteria, which includes: a minimum investment of $1 million, creation of 20 or more new jobs, or 20,000 square feet or more of new space.
Overall, Ohio had 14 towns place within the top 100 list, this was also more than any other state throughout the country.
For the previous three years, Nebraska had taken the top spot before Ohio earning the designation.
