COLUMBUS—State Representative Tex Fischer (R-Boardman) recently signed onto a letter urging the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to investigate Kohan Retail Investment Group for suspected fraudulent activity.

Fischer joined U.S. Congressman Michael Rulli, State Senator Al Cutrona, and the Boardman Township Trustees in urging Attorney General Dave Yost to investigate a series of failed property tax payments involving Southern Park Mall in Boardman Township. Kohan Retail Investment Group holds an ownership interest in the property and is responsible for associated tax obligations.

“Kohan Retail Investment Group has a long track record of being poor partners with their communities, and unfortunately Boardman has become one of the most egregious examples of their failures,” said Fischer. “I’m hopeful the Attorney General’s office can fully investigate this matter and will pursue appropriate legal action. These people have robbed our first responders and our schools of nearly $1 million. Boardman deserves better than this.”
