Rep. Upchurch Hosts Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Juneteenth Press Conference
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland), president of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) along with other members of the House and Senate Democrats, hosted a Juneteenth press conference today highlighting systemic issues the caucus is currently addressing through legislation.
“We envision an Ohio that values life and fairness, prioritizing rehabilitation over punishment and mercy over vengeance, ensuring justice and dignity for all,” said Rep. Upchurch.
Members of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus discussed five current points of concern: housing, criminal justice, Black maternal health, education and voting rights. They then explained how they are tackling these systemic issues through their various pieces of legislation and encouraged Ohioans to call committee chairs about moving these bills forward.
The entire press conference can be found on the Ohio Channel and the Ohio Black Caucus Facebook page.
