Demetriou Assigned to Additional House Committees
COLUMBUS – State Representative Steve Demetriou (R-Bainbridge Twp.) has been assigned to additional House committees as legislation will soon start to proceed through the committee process. He has been appointed to serve on the Public Health Policy, Technology and Innovation, Homeland Security, and Ways and Means committees in addition to serving as the vice-chair of the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee.
“I am excited to serve on committees that touch such a wide array of policy areas,” Demetriou said. “Each of these committees include many talented legislators whom I look forward to working with.”
Demetriou graduated from West Point in 2011 prior to serving in the U.S. Army where he completed Army Ranger School and Airborne training. Demetriou is also a combat veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Demetriou has remained focused on military and veteran issues after completing his military service.
Legislation, once introduced, is assigned to a committee that is topically relevant to the bill. Committee members will hear the legislation, offer suggestions to make the legislation stronger and once completed with the committee process, recommend the legislation move to the House floor for a vote.
